Legislative Yuan’s Social Welfare and Environmental Hygiene Committee Inspects Campus Air Quality in Miaoli; Sinotech Engineering Services, LTD. Assists the Ministry of Environment with On-Site Demonstration of Mobile Mapping Technology

On August 24, 2026, the Social Welfare and Environmental Hygiene Committee of the Legislative Yuan, accompanied by Minister of Environment Chi-Ming Peng, visited National Miaoli Special School to inspect the implementation of the "Campus Air Quality Protection Network for Children and Youth." Commissioned by the Ministry of Environment’s Department of Atmospheric Environment and the National Environmental Research Academy’s (NERA) Environmental Governance Research Center, the Air Quality Team from Sinotech Engineering Services fully supported the on-site operations and technical demonstration. Coordinating the deployment of two mobile monitoring vehicles, the team briefed legislators and ministry officials on the practical applications of high-spatiotemporal-resolution mobile mapping technology.

The real-time photoionization detector (PID) mobile mapping vehicle, developed by Sinotech, conducted continuous spatial screening. Delivering 1-second temporal resolution for volatile organic compound (VOC) concentrations (ppb-level, equivalent to 10⁻⁹), its low cost and rapid deployment facilitate broader field adoption while making it ideal for screening pollution hotspots. Meanwhile, NERA’s mobile atmospheric pollution detection system (AIM-TOF-MS), operated by Sinotech’s team, captured trace organic chemical fingerprints at ppt-level (equivalent to 10⁻¹²) sensitivity, providing critical data for pinpointing emission sources.

Unlike conventional stationary stations that focus primarily on long-term temporal trends, mobile mapping captures the dynamic spatiotemporal distribution of pollutants, significantly improving the efficiency of source identification. Through this demonstration, Sinotech Engineering Services highlighted its technical depth and expertise in atmospheric monitoring and pollution source tracking.
