To help local government sanitation crews gain an in-depth understanding of garbage truck maintenance and road safety, the Environmental Management Administration (EMA) of the Ministry of Environment (MoENV) commissioned Sinotech Engineering Services, Ltd. to organize the "115 Garbage Truck Maintenance and Competency Enhancement Training Program." The first training session concluded successfully on July 17, 2026, at the 2nd-floor conference room of the Huko Township Sanitation Squad in Hsinchu County. This inaugural event drew an unprecedented response, attracting more than 80 participants from counties and cities across Taiwan—including supervisors and program staff from environmental protection agencies as well as frontline sanitation crew members—with lively interaction throughout the session.
Garbage trucks bear the important responsibility of maintaining urban sanitation and are indispensable infrastructure for local sanitation operations. Their maintenance and road safety are directly linked to the operational safety of frontline sanitation crews as well as the safety of other road users.
To help prevent garbage truck traffic accidents and implement standardized maintenance procedures, the training program featured instructor Chen Hsing-chung, a senior expert in vehicle maintenance and safety. The curriculum was carefully structured around three core modules — standardized maintenance, case studies on road safety, and hands-on vehicle demonstrations — combining theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Special thanks were also extended to the Huko Township Sanitation Squad in Hsinchu County for their strong support with venue arrangements and administrative coordination, contributing to the successful completion of the first session.
Following the first session, the training program will move to central and southern Taiwan, with sessions scheduled in Changhua at the Xihu Township Office on August 21, 2026, and in Chiayi at the Elderly Welfare Center on August 28, 2026, continuing to promote standardized garbage truck maintenance knowledge and progressively strengthen operational safety for sanitation crews nationwide.
