To enhance waste treatment and resource recycling technologies and effectiveness, the Chiayi County Environmental Protection Bureau visited Germany, Switzerland, and France in August 2024 to explore global leading environmental technologies and management practices. As part of its role in supervising the Lutsao Plant project in Chiayi County, Sinotech Engineering Services participated in the visit to gather insights for future related projects.
This visit to advanced environmental facilities in Europe provided valuable models for Chiayi County in waste treatment, resource recycling, and achieving net-zero emissions. Germany’s EDEKA supermarket showcased its Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), which uses economic incentives to promote recycling. Switzerland's ZAV Recycling in Zurich demonstrated fine-sorting technology that efficiently recovers metals and reduces incineration bottom ash (IBA). The Bègles MRF plant in Bordeaux, France, utilized automated sorting equipment to enhance resource recovery efficiency. Additionally, Veolia Group’s strategies and international experience in achieving net-zero carbon emissions serve as key references for Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero policy planning.
