The 12th JWWA/WRF/CTWWA Water System Seismic Conference

Taiwan, Japan, and the United States are all located in the Circum-Pacific Seismic Zone. When a large-scale earthquake occurs, it can cause significant damage to the water supply system, which is an important infrastructure and a necessity for people's livelihood. Once damaged, it will seriously affect people's livelihoods, medical care, firefighting, disaster relief, and more. Therefore, in recent years, all countries have invested heavily in research into the earthquake resistance and post-earthquake response of water supply systems.

To exchange technology and experience with each other, a platform was established by the American Water Works Association Research Foundation (AWWARF) and the Japan Water Works Association (JWWA). Since 1999, every two years, the United States and Japan have alternated in hosting the "Water System Seismic Conference Program." Starting from the 3rd session, the UK and Taiwan were invited to participate in topics such as system performance analysis, risk assessment and management, post-earthquake response and recovery, earthquake damage experience, and prevention technology. The seminar invites waterworks scholars and association members to participate and present papers with the aim of mutual learning, extensive communication, and strengthening friendships.
